What are our Objectives?

  • To work for the health, safety and performance of all those involved in aviation and space operations, including passengers
  • to be an independant pan-European forum for aerospace medicine, and to coordinate European aerospace medicine interests in the applicable fora
  • to base our decisions on expert knowledge, evidence and open discussions within the organisation
  • to work as a non-profit association

  • What are our main Activities & Tasks?

  • to assist the responsible bodies in developing and harmonising education in aerospace medicine throughout Europe, and to work for official acknowledgement of the educational syllabus
  • to encourage and develop continuous information and dialogue between national civil and military aeromedical associations and organisations dealing with aviation and space matters
  • to encourage the exchange of scientific results and experiences, supporting scientific research, and to organise the European Congresses on Aerospace Medicine
  • to develop relations with relevant national and international institutions or organisations (EASA, ICAO, EUROCONTROL, etc.) based on the Society’s independent and expert position
  • to participate in international (ICASM, AsMA) and national European congresses
  • Who can become a member?
    Membership is open to all national aviation and / or aerospace medicine associations / societies (or “country groups” in countries without an official association) in all European countries. Individual members of the national member associations are automatically members of ESAM (individuals cannot apply for membership).

    Other relevant national or international associations and institutions can become associate members, upon making an application to the Executive Committee.
    Recruiting aeromedical experts

    We need you to help us improve the impact of ESAM!

    ESAM is now recruiting aeromedical experts from its member associations in various fields. Experts that will constitute the scientific hub through various subgroups.

    Tasks would be to contribute to ESAM productions such as aeromedical positions, and other scientific work to promote aerospace medicine from our united European family. Are you interested: please email ab@esam.aero.

    ESAM Academy

    ESAM Academy is a non-profit organisation that provides training courses in aerospace medicine for interested physicians, scientists, students, aeromedical personnel or cabin crew in accordance with European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) rules.
